Thank you for your post. The real estate market in the US is very local. We are located in Northwestern Michigan and while we have seen better markets, we are in much better shape then the rest of the State of Michigan. Our area is a very desirable area to vacation and live. Buyers are getting excellent deals on waterfront and other properties. Now is the time to buy!

Great post !
Generally it is very intresting kind of investment, but I think that real estate is loosing it’s price too much.
I own a site with prices for Moscow real estate listings and from the begining of this year it wasn’t grew….
Anyway american real estate is more stabil in this case.

Yes, it is good that The Senate Economic Stimulus Plan gives a boost to the housing industry by providing property tax relief, while putting more money back into the home owner’s pocket. It does so by offering a window for Home Buyersto avoid the pop-up tax now and for the duration of their home ownership.

Great to here from you that the Michigan Senate took action in passing legislation to stimulate the housing industry which definitely gives a boost to the housing industry by providing property tax relief. As the industry is moving ahead the home buyers have many options in the market.

One thing to remember, when you get ready to sell your home, dig up your Title policy. Depending on the time period since issued, you can get a credit for the Owners Title Policy that you will purchase for the new Buyers.

Good post. We all need Title Insurance today. It is an necessary expense. It is sad that so many expenses go into a real estate transaction, but because of dishonest and corrupted people today, title insurance is so vital to secure owner’s rights to the home, and bank’s interest in the home.

With Michigan’s real estate market, may taxpayers may be able to reduce their SEV and taxable value. If they are able to show home values have come down in their area (very easily done with the assistance of your REALTOR). Check with your Township to see when they will be holding their hearings - they usually occur during March.

While these bills give temporary relief to home buyers, it is only a temporary solution. The day after the moritorium the problem comes back.
The problem will not be solved until uniformity is restored to our assessment process. Why not solve the problem perminatley? How about taking the necessary steps to reduce the percent of SEV on which we are taxed. For this temporary solution we will be left with a permanent increase in the transfer tax. For some reason they are never happy unless the taxpayer pays more.
